Leaving a Legacy in Your Will
...making a real difference
Did you know that over half of the RSPCA’s annual income comes from gifts left by our supporters in their wills? So legacies save one in every two of the animals we help. We’re incredibly grateful to these thoughtful animal lovers and, as with any donation, your gift will be put to good use.
The Recommended Wording For Your Will
(We recommend that you copy and paste this clause into a Word Document so you can amend it where necessary. Then print it out and take it along to your solicitor)
Option 1 - General Legacy to the RSPCA Bedfordshire North Branch
“I give the sum of £ (or specify a share of residue) to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Bedfordshire North Branch (registered charity number 202037) for its general purposes and I declare that the receipt of the honorary treasurer or other proper officer of the said Branch for the time being shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said legacy.”
Option 2 - Wording for other kinds of gifts
(Use this if you wish to support a particular area of our work)
“I give (specify) to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Bedfordshire North Branch (registered charity number 202037) for its general purpose and I express the wish but without creating any binding trust that this legacy be used in the (specify) areas and I declare that the receipt of the honorary treasurer or other proper officer of the said Branch for the time being shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said legacy.”
We cannot thank you enough for your generosity and rest assured, your gift will be working hard, in your memory
